The Masters Steering Committee has released the water ski invitation criteria for the 16th Junior Masters Tournament to be held at Callaway Gardens® in Pine Mountain, Georgia, May 23-25, 2008. The Junior Masters event immediately precedes the prestigious 49th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® sponsored by Nautiques® by Correct Craft.
The 16th Junior Masters feature the world’s top youth in competition. To qualify in the water ski competition, invitees must be 17 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2008. The Junior Masters tournament begins at 9:00 am on Friday, May 23, with the Junior Masters preliminary round and the finals on Saturday.
The Masters Committee meets annually to review invitation criteria for the upcoming year’s event due to the dynamic environment of water sports. The committee has developed a comprehensive list of criteria to ensure that the world’s very best junior athletes are invited to the 16th Junior Masters.
A complete list of criteria and invitees for the 16th Junior Masters water ski competition includes:
- 2007 Defending Junior Masters Event and Overall Champions.
- Current IWSF Junior World Championships Event and Overall Champions.
- Top 7 on final IWSF Junior World Water Ski Ranking List, published as of March 1, 2008.
- Top 5 on the IWSF Junior World Water Ski Overall Ranking List, published March 1, 2008.
- 2007 Junior U. S. Open – Boys and Girls Water Ski Event and Overall Champions.
- 2007 U. S. Nationals Girls 3 and Boys 3 Three-Event Water Ski Event and Overall Champions.
- Performance in an IWSF sanctioned record-capability tournament between November 1, 2007 and May 20, 2008 which is equal to or exceeds the performance level of the 5th Ranked skier on the final 2007 IWSF Junior World Water Ski Ranking Lists, published as of March 1, 2008.
- Skiers who qualify in two events may drag the third event if they have earned the following performances between June 1, 2007 and May 20, 2008. Performance must have been skied in a record capability tournament.
- Boys 3 Slalom 91.5 buoys (1.5@13m ); Trick 2400 points; Jump 125’-51-5.
- Girls 3 Slalom 81.5 buoys (3.5@14.25m); Trick 1900 points; Jump 69’-51-5.
- Example: If you qualified in Slalom and Trick, by the Masters Criteria, you may also compete in Jumping if you have a scored performance as stated above.
Junior Men Slalom: Thibaut Dailland, Sacha Descuns, Michael Mann, Thomas Niola, Nate Smith, Brooks Wilson and Zack Worden.
Junior Men Jump: Leif Abel, Sandro Ambrosi, Thibaut Dailland, Daniel Efverstrom, Alex Paradis, Taylor Pavur and Zack Worden.
Junior Men Tricks: Thibaut Dailland, Theo Fernandez, John Lex Kenerly, Martin Kolman, Taylor Pavur, Adam Pickos and Alexandre Poteau.
Junior Men Overall: Thibaut Dailland, Martin Kolman, Taylor Pavur, Adam Pickos and Zack Worden.
Junior Women Slalom: Manon Costard, Ambre Frac, Caroline Hensley, Keri McClure, Olivia McDonald, Marie Robineau and Danielle Shipe.
Junior Women Jump: Manon Costard, Lisa Francke, Caroline Hensley, Erin Mielzynski, Tina Rauchenwald, Haley Runion and Danielle Shipe.
Junior Women Tricks: Marion Aynaud, Iris Cambray, Silvia Caruso, Manon Costard, Caroline Hensley, Olivia McDonald and Karina Sergeeva.
Junior Women Overall: Marion Aynaud, Mamon Costard, Caroline Hensley, Olivia McDonald and Karina Sergeeva.
