2023 Masters Water Ski Criteria

There will be a maximum of eight (8) competitors in each discipline. Athletes will qualify for invitation according to the following criteria, in the order listed below, until eight positions are filled. Upon qualifying for an invitation, an athlete may continue to compete in MQS Series events, but for score only, and not for placement for the purposes of Masters Qualification.

  1. Defending Open Men and Open Women Champions of the 2022 Masters in slalom, trick and jump.
  • Men’s Slalom: Nate Smith
  • Women’s Slalom: Regina Jaquess
  • Men’s Trick: Pato Font
  • Women’s Trick: Erika Lang
  • Men’s Jump: Joel Poland
  • Women’s Jump: Lauren Morgan
  1. Defending Open Men and Open Women Champions of the 2022 Botaski Pro Am in slalom and trick.
  • Men’s Slalom: Thomas Degasperi
  • Women’s Slalom: Jaimee Bull
  • Men’s Trick: Joel Poland
  • Women’s Trick: Anna Gay
  1. Defending Open Men and Open Women Champions of the 2022 California Waterski Pro Am in slalom and jump.
  • Men’s Slalom: Nate Smith
  • Women’s Slalom: Whitney McClintock Rini
  • Men’s Jump: Freddy Krueger
  • Women’s Jump: Lauren Morgan
  1. 2023 Moomba Masters International Invitational Champions (*provided said champion meets or exceeds the following benchmark scores)
  • Men’s Slalom: 4 @ 10.25 meters No Qualifier
  • Women’s Slalom: 2 @ 10.75 meters Whitney McClintock Rini
  • Men’s Trick: 11,710 points No Qualifier
  • Women’s Trick: 9,265 points Erika Lang
  • Men’s Jump: 68.10 meters Ryan Dodd
  • Women’s Jump: 54.10 meters Jacinta Carroll
  1. The first and second place finishers with the single highest score of multi round Masters Qualifying Series Event #1 held May 12th – 14th, 2023 at Drew Ross Ski Academy in Orlando, Florida.
  1. The first-place finisher with the single highest score of multi round Masters Qualifying Series Event #2 held May 19th – 21st, 2023 at Jack Travers’ International Tournament Skiing in Groveland, Florida.
  1. If positions are still available, the second-place finisher with the single highest score of multi round Masters Qualifying Series Event #2 held May 19th – 21st, 2023 at Jack Travers’ International Tournament Skiing in Groveland, Florida.
  1. If positions are still available, the third-place finisher, and so on in consecutive order, with the single highest score from Masters Qualifying Series Event #2 held May 19th – 21st, 23 at Jack Travers’ International Tournament Skiing in Groveland, Florida.

**In order to be eligible to compete at a Masters Qualifying Series Event, open skiers must meet the following minimum scores achieved at a Class R or L tournament by December 1, 2022.

  • Men’s Slalom: 2.5 @ 10.25 meters
  • Women’s Slalom: 1 @ 10.75 meters
  • Men’s Trick: 9,610 points
  • Women’s Trick: 6,425 points
  • Men’s Jump: 63.20 meters
  • Women’s Jump: 44.80 meters
