THE 49th MASTERS WAKEBOARDING CRITERIA AND INVITEES ANNOUNCED
ORLANDO, FLA (Mar 1, 2008)

The Masters Steering Committee has released the wakeboarding invitation criteria and list of invitees for the 49th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® sponsored by Nautiques® by Correct Craft, to be held at Callaway Gardens®, in Pine Mountain, Georgia, May 23-25, 2008.

The 49th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament is the world’s oldest, most prestigious, water ski and wakeboard tournament. It is an invitation only event featuring the world’s most elite water sports athletes.

The Masters Steering Committee meets annually to review invitation criteria for the upcoming year’s event due to the dynamic environment of professional water sports. The committee has arrived at a comprehensive list of criteria and invitees to ensure that the world’s most talented riders are invited to compete.

Invitation criteria for the 49th Masters Wakeboard Tournament includes:

  1. 2007 Defending Masters Wakeboard Champion.
  1. Top 10 finalists of the 2007 King of Wake Wakeboarding World Cup Series.
  1. Top four riders from WWA World Series.
  1. Top 4 Pro Men and Pro Women of the 2007 IWSF Wakeboard World Cup Series.
  1. 2007 WWA National Wakeboard Champion.
  1. 2007 WWA World Wakeboard Champion.
  1. Top 8 Men, 4 Women on the Pro Tour Ranking Lists.
  1. 2007 USA Wakeboard National Champion.
  1. Current IWSF Wakeboard World Champion.
  1. 2007 European Championships winner.
  1. 2008 Wake Games winner from Pro Women and Pro Men.
  1. 2008 Pan American Championships winner from Pro Women and Pro Men.
  1. The Masters Committee reserves the right to choose 2 wild cards. (These riders will be chosen if the committee feels that a particular rider is worthy of competing in the event, but was not able to make it in on the above criteria. Riders will be chosen based on their value to the sport on a contest level and a marketing level, but only to further enhance the credibility of the event.)

In accordance with the above criteria, the following riders are invited:

Pro/Open Men: Andrew Adkison, Adam Errington, Trevor Hansen, Danny Harf, Rusty Malinoski, Shaun Murray, John Rodriguez, Marc Rossiter, Chad Sharpe, Phillip Soven, Daniel Watkins, Jeff Weatherall and J.D. Webb.

Pro/Open Women: Sunni Anne Ball, Nicola Butler, Emily Copeland-Durham, Andrea Fountain, Dallas Friday, Shelby Kantar, Laura Lohrman, Raimi Merritt and Amber Wing.
